A two-day webinar on the topic "Interviewing Children in Criminal Proceeding" was held at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. The event was organized by the European Union Advisory Mission Ukraine with the participation of the scientific and pedagogical staff of the University, its structural divisions - Sumy Branch,  Kremenchuk Flight College, representatives of the National Police of Ukraine, courts, prosecutors' offices, the Children Service in Kharkiv Regional State Administration, representatives of the departments/organizations from Kyiv, Odesa, Lviv and Mariupol.

The purpose of the event was to promote the protection of children's rights in criminal proceedings in Ukraine.

The speakers of the event were: Julia Korkman – PhD, Adjunct professor in legal psychology, Helsinki University, Position with the forensic Psychology Center for Children and Adolescents, Liisa Järvilehto – Master of Psychology since 2008, specialization training in forensic psychology completed in 2019 and Jonna Turunen – Detective Chief Superintendent, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit, Helsinki Police Department, Master of Laws, Helsinki University.

Such topics as ”Children and the legal system: historical developments and pitfalls”, “Best practises in child interviewing: The NICHD protocol and its leading principles”, “Police investigations perspective to the method of interviewing children”, “Best practise in child interviewing: Practical case-based examples”, ”Training for investigative interviewers: The importance of ongoing feedback and the need for recording during the pre-trial interviews” etc. were discussed. 

The event was held on the ZOOM platform (with simultaneous interpretation).
