On the basis of Kharkiv Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, a scientific-practical seminar on "Essential problems of using special knowledge in criminal proceedings" was held. It was attended by representatives of the Department of Criminology, Forensic Science and Emergency Medical Assistance Training of National University of Internal Affairs.
The seminar was opened by Stanislav Perlin, Director of Kharkiv Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, who greeted the participants and spoke about the condition and prospects of forensic research development in the Center. He and his colleagues presented modern forensic techniques and research methods being used on the basis of Kharkiv Research
Forensic Center, as well as the organization of trainings for forensic specialists of the National Police of Ukraine. In their reports, the experts of the Center drew attention to the issues that arise while assigning and conducting certain types of forensic examinations and ways to deal with them. In particular, they discussed the organization and conduct of forensic engineering and technical examinations, forensic examination of drugs, investigative errors in assigning forensic molecular genetic examination and forensic examination of computer hardware and software.
Reports on the prospects for the development of forensic economic expertise were made by the Head of the Department of Criminology, Forensic Expertise and Emergency Medical Assistance Training, Candidate of Law Vasyl Kikinchuk and Associate Professor Vasyl Kornienko. Some issues of technical and forensic support for the investigation of terrorist crimes were discussed in the report of the
Professor of the Department, Doctor of Law Valeria Malyarova. Associate Professors, Candidates of Law Tetyana Matyushkova and Tetyana Orlova reported on the technical and forensic support of interrogation of violent crimes victims, including rape. Stepaniuk presented some ways to improve the forensic training of cadets and students of higher educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. Other participants of the conference also delivered topical reports on the improvement of investigative and judicial practice. Scientific reports and discussions turned out to be very interesting and useful; their results were included in the collection of abstracts of the scientific-practical seminar.
At the end of the event, Bohdan Burbelo, Head of the Forensic Support Department of Kharkiv Region Investigation Department, presented a new mobile forensic laboratory based on the “FiatDicato” vehicle, equipped with modern forensic equipment and measuring instruments according to European standards.
