Solemn events were held at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs on the occasion of unveiling of a memorial tablet in memory of a university graduate who died in the east of Ukraine, deputy commander of the regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine “Azov” Senior Lieutenant Dmytro Pruhlo.

Units of cadets, attendees of the institute of postgraduate education, patrol police of special purpose “Skhid” of the Headquarters of the National Police of Ukraine in Kharkiv were built on the big square of the university in order to tribute to the memory of the warrior who gave his life for peace and freedom on the native land.

Valerii Sokurenko, Police General of the third rank addressed the meeting: “We are proud of our graduate of Faculty No. 1, who graduated from the university in 2012 and in turbulent days 2014 voluntarily joined the National Guard Regiment “Azov”. With arms in his hand, he defended the integrity and freedom of the east of our country. The opening of the memorial tablet on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the Constitution of Ukraine is a landmark event. It will always remind us that sovereignty and freedom must be fought and defended with arms. Dmitro died as a hero. He is an example for us to follow, a reminder that thanks to the heroism of our warriors, Kharkiv is still a Ukrainian city. And it is up to us that Slobozhanshchyna will remain peaceful and Ukrainian”.

As Serhii Tamarin, Police Major the veteran of “Azov” regiment and the graduate of the university noted in his speech, it is a privilege and great honor for the warrior to die in battle, defending the native land, this is a privilege and a great honor. He called on cadets to follow the chosen path with honor, to be an example to others and always remember that the history of Ukraine washed with the blood of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian sons and daughters.

Vitaii Hrytsaienko, Lieutenant, Deputy commander of “Azov” regiment for combat and special training, a graduate of KhNUIA, thanked the leadership of the university for the opportunity to honor the memory of the hero who loved the land the most, his people and was a true defender and patriot of Ukraine.

After the vocal composition “Hero of our state”, which was performed by the participants of artistic amateur activity, the present took part in the opening of the memorial tablet to Dmytro Pruhlo in the university museum. The co-brothers recalled what a sincere and kind person Dmytro was, and honored his memory with flowers.
