Dear participants of hostilities on the territory of other states! Dear veterans of the war in Afghanistan, members of the families of Afghan soldiers!

The Day of Remembrance for the participants of hostilities on the territory of other states is a memorable date for all of us. The withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan was completed 32 years ago. Of all modern armed conflicts, the Afghan war was one of the bloodiest and most brutal, the shadow of which affected almost every Ukrainian family. Afghan soldiers will forever remain for us, modern generations, an example of courage and bravery, a model of invincibility, strength of spirit and officer honor.

Most of them survived and returned to peaceful life, but many were not destined to set foot on their native land. We bow our heads in deep gratitude for their feat and endurance.

Unfortunately, today our native Ukraine is in a state of hybrid war. It is quite natural that it was the Afghan soldiers in the ranks of volunteers who were among the first to defend their homeland. Side by side with them are law enforcement officers, demonstrating heroism, loyalty to the Oath and duty. I am proud that together with them I took part in the anti-terrorist operation. I do not know by hearsay what war is, what a stern and cruel face it has, how much pain and crippled destinies! How much strength and endurance does each soldier, officer, volunteer need to maintain calm, balance and with dignity to resist the enemy. Every day of war is a real and extremely frank lesson in courage, which hardens the will, character and, most important, gives confidence and unshakable faith that we will surely win, that the truth is on our side. We love our Motherland and will not give it to anyone!

I wish everyone a peaceful sky, good health, prosperity and long life!
