Nataliia Yelnikova, a Senior Lecturer of the Department of Ukrainian Studies of the Faculty No. 2 of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, and Yuliia Hariunova, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Ukrainian Language of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, conducted a binary lesson on “Purity of language as a communicative and stylistic aspect” for cadets of the Faculty No. 1 (group 103).
Lecturers said that the purity of speech is its most important communicative and stylistic feature and one of the criteria for effective communication, which is associated with the correct literary and normative pronunciation, with the absence of non-literary elements such as vernacularisms, vulgarisms, pleonasms, cliche, clericalisms, fillers, such linguistic and expressive means that do not meet the norms.
Particular attention was paid to the formation of the language culture of the cadets and the improvement of their communicative abilities, among which the most effective is the establishment and maintenance of language contacts. An interactive method of teaching was applied, analyzing the purity of speech of famous politicians, actors and cultural figures for errors in their speech.
The cadets actively commented on mistakes in the speech of media personalities, excitingly discussing problematic issues.
