KhNUIA is implementing the project ‘EU Policy Traffic Light: Gender, Rights, Migration and Digitalisation’ under the Jean Monnet Programme of the Erasmus+ programme. The project aims to demonstrate how the use of digital technologies ensures privacy and general human rights at different stages of the migration cycle, especially women's rights. The aim of the Jean Monnet Erasmus+ programme is to intensify the European integration discourse, promote excellence in European integration studies, engage higher education institutions in researching European integration processes and disseminating the ideas of a united Europe.
KhNUIA carries out annual comprehensive criminological, sociological and psychological monitoring of the state of crime, causes and conditions of crime, background phenomena, trust in law enforcement agencies and public opinion about police work. One of the main principles of organising the educational process at KhNUIA is its practical orientation. The cadets of the University receive not only theoretical knowledge during lectures and seminars, but also master the practical skills necessary for service under the legal regime of martial law. Employees of KhNUIA serve in the police of Donetsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.
Thousands of university graduates are defending our country with arms in their hands. Police officers serve in the de-occupied territories to protect public safety and order, detecting saboteurs, accomplices of the Russian aggressor, collaborators, demine the territories, help to establish humanitarian aid for the population, document war crimes, etc.
Among the graduates of KhNUIA there are heroes who will always remain in our hearts. The deputy commander of the ‘Azov’ separate special purpose detachment of the National Guard of Ukraine for combat and special training, Senior Lieutenant Vitalii Hrytsaienko, call sign ‘Gogol’, was killed during the defence of Mariupol. He volunteered to join the unit to defend our country from Russian aggression. For his personal courage and heroism, he was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine and the Order of the Golden Star. The Poltava Lyceum with enhanced military and physical training, which is now under the care of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, was named after Vitalii Hrytsaienko. Vitalii Hrytsaienko's name, along with the names of other heroes, is immortalised in the Book of Memory of the Fallen Graduates of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, which contains the stories of those who heroically gave their lives for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Physical culture, sports and a healthy lifestyle are an essential part of raising conscious citizens of Ukraine and true patriots of their country. Numerous sports clubs, such as sambo and judo, boxing, kettlebell lifting, athletics, game sports (football, volleyball, basketball), as well as sports competitions held regularly at the university, help to build strength, character and willpower in young people. This is important for the education of future law enforcement officers, who must be physically fit to perform their duties and be able to protect and assist those who cannot do so on their own.
The most talented and trained cadets and students defend the honour of the university and our country at competitions at the national, European and world levels, gaining victories.
The cadets and students are provided with comfortable conditions not only during the educational process, but also in their everyday life: modern dormitories, canteens, and a medical and sanitary unit. It should be noted that the academic buildings and dormitories are equipped with shelters in case of air raid or shelling.
The entire university staff has become an active participant in the volunteer movement, helping both the military and civilians. Every month, the trade union organisation transfers funds for the needs of the Security and Defence Forces. Employees and students deliver medicines, medical equipment and supplies to hospitals, hospitals and other medical institutions and involve foreign partners, international organisations and charitable foundations in this work. They purchase and repair vehicles for the frontline. They make camouflage nets, trench candles and blood donations. They provide assistance to civilians and participate in the implementation of national social programmes such as ‘No Barriers’, ‘Friendly Support’, ‘Visit a Wounded Soldier, Honor a Hero’ and others.
One of these projects is the Driving School for People with Disabilities, a training course for drivers of category B vehicles. Two specialised classrooms have been set up for the training of people with limited mobility, where theoretical training is provided. Practical skills can be acquired using a specialised vehicle with additional certified equipment. The university has all the necessary conditions for quality education and comfortable living, taking into account the physical needs of different categories of students, including people with disabilities.
