Representatives of the scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department of Police Activity and Public Administration of the Faculty No.3 took an online course “Countering and preventing bullying (harassment) in educational institutions” through the platform of mass open online courses Prometheus.

This course was prepared as part of the creation of a national system for combating and preventing bullying (harassment) in educational institutions by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation and the Ukrainian public project of mass open online courses Prometheus.

The aim of the course is to teach educators to recognize situations of bullying (harassment), to respond in a timely and correct manner to its manifestations in the educational environment.

Typical signs of bullying, possible participants and places of the most frequent manifestations of this phenomenon were considered. It was found out how bullying (harassment) differs from the usual quarrel or conflict. The stages of bullying (harassment) were tracked - from the inception to the highest point of exacerbation.

During the course, the following topics were considered: “What is bullying? What are its manifestations?”, “What are the causes and consequences of bullying (harassment)?”, “How should a teacher react when he/she becomes a participant in a situation?”, “How to organize systematic work to combat and prevent bullying (harassment) in an educational institution?”, “How to diagnose the existence of bullying (harassment) in a team?”, “What is the algorithm of actions in case of its detection? Who to turn to for help?” etc.

The acquired knowledge will help to acquire basic practical knowledge for working with the situation of bullying (harassment) in an educational institution and to create a system of accident prevention. According to the results of participation in the distance course, the relevant certificates were received.
