4th-year cadets of the Faculty No. 4 of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, ordinary police Anhelina Prymenko, Mykyta Seliukov and Vladyslav Khromenkov took part in a three-day educational quest on the investigation of crimes related to human trafficking, which was organized by the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine for applicants of all higher education institutions with specific training conditions that train police officers.
The educational quest, which took place in Dnipropetrovsk region, was attended by three cadets of graduation courses from the National Academy of Internal Affairs, Luhansk State University of Internal Affairs named after E.O. Didorenko, Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs, Lviv State University of Internal Affairs, Donetsk Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs.
Addressing the participants of the quest, Liliia Hrudko, Head of the program “Human security” OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine, noted that during the educational quest its participants will be able to familiarize and learn how to use existing practices of crimes investigation related to human trafficking, improve their protocol filling skills and work with digital media.
One of the trainers of the event was Oleksandr Manzhai, Associate Professor of the Department of Information Processing Technology and Cybersecurity of the Faculty No. 4 of KhNUIA, Candidate of Legal Sciences, Associate Professor, who has been involved as an expert in the field of combating trafficking in human beings committed using a computer by the OSCE Project Coordinator in Ukraine for several years.
Before completing the quest tasks, the cadets and female cadets got acquainted with the current situation in the field of combating human trafficking in Ukraine, the main trends and challenges in countering this illegal activity and decided on a list of changes that need to be enshrined in the legislation of Ukraine in the field of combating human trafficking. Separately, involved experienced experts told about the features of the investigation of crimes related to human trafficking, the tactical features of conducting certain investigative (search) actions in the investigation of this category of crimes, and the specifics of documenting crimes of human trafficking committed using computer technologies.
All cadets were divided into teams that completing the quest tasks in stages. When they were performing tasks, they demonstrated their theoretical knowledge and practical skills in investigating and documenting crimes of human trafficking committed using computer technologies, as well as teamwork skills, leadership skills, and so on. Thus, performing one of the educational quest tasks, its participants independently filmed social educational videos for citizens looking for a job both in Ukraine and abroad and posted them on social computer networks with the hashtag #worksafely.
According to the results of participation in the educational quest, the team members were awarded medals for the I, II and III places occupied by the teams.
The educational quest was organized and conducted by the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine within the framework of the project “Helping the Ministry of Internal Affairs address Domestic Violence, Human Trafficking and Cybercrime in Ukraine”.
This is not the first year that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and higher education institutions with specific training conditions that train police officers have been participating in various events organized by the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine and aimed at increasing the level of combating human trafficking crimes in Ukraine.
