On the eve of the Day of the Unification of Ukraine, an online meeting of the scientific society was held at the Department of Law-Enforcement Activity and Policeistics of Faculty № 6 of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs.

Students and teachers of the department discussed the issue of ensuring the quality and efficiency of the mechanism of public administration to ensure the integrity and unity of Ukraine, as one of the key factors in the further development of statehood. They identified the main threats and challenges facing Ukraine today, discussed possible steps and measures to be taken by the state authorities to effectively counter them. Today, when our country is in a rather difficult social and political situation, which is characterized by the intensification of its course of integration into the EU and NATO, and the presence of significant threats to Ukraine's territorial integrity and governance due to external aggression. The issues of ensuring the unity of the nation, as well as strengthening the state system are becoming relevant. Iryna Panova, Head of the Department of Law-Enforcement Activity and Policeistics, noted that the adopted Act of Unification of the Ukrainian People's Republic and the Western Ukrainian People's Republic was of great importance for state formation and strengthening the state system in Ukraine. The head of the society Viktoriia Melnyk emphasized that it was necessary to pay attention to the national idea, because it was the key to the unity of the nation and the strengthening of the state system. Associate Professor Anton Ivanov stated that in the history of the formation and development of Ukrainian statehood there were many important events, a special place among which was the day of the proclamation of the unity of the UPR and WUPR January 22, 1919.

The participants of the meeting heard and discussed the reports of students: "Relationship of national unity and national security of Ukraine", "Interaction of public authorities with the public on ensuring territorial integrity and constitutional order", "Legal education as required ground for national unity", "The role of legal science in substantiating the idea of unity of the nation as a guarantee of strengthening the state system".
