The Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs was visited by the Head of UNODC Program Office in Ukraine Ms. Harsheth Virk. This is her first introductory visit to the University. The purpose of the visit is to get acquainted with the territory, the material and technical base of the university and to determine the prospective directions of cooperation between the university and UNODC. The head of the UNODC was met by the Head of the Research Laboratory on psychological support of law enforcement Oleksii Serdiuk and the deputy head of the department of service organization Oleksii Laptiy.
The UNODC Program Office in Ukraine has a long history of fruitful cooperation with the university in various areas. Cooperation did not stop even during the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. At present, the UNODC is helping the KhNUIA to determine directions for obtaining international aid for the restoration of the university after the missile and bomb attacks by the Russian Federation, the repair of damaged buildings, the construction of new facilities, and further cooperation in the fields of professional education of the national police, scientific research activities, development of educational programs on the prevention of drug use and HIV prevention, mutual technical and expert support in the field of combating crime, illegal arms trafficking, gender-based violence, drug distribution, cyber security and other areas that become relevant in the context of military operations currently taking place in Ukraine.
