Online meeting of the Scientific Circle of the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology (Faculty No. 6) of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs using software for video conferencing Zoom under the guidance of Iryna Lutsenko, the Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology (Faculty No. 6) Candidate of Law.

The topic of the Scientific Circle was devoted to punishment. This topic was covered in the reports of the members: Anna Shevtsova “Influence of mitigating or aggravating circumstances on the definition of punishment and its type”, Alina Khutorna “Death penalty: world experience and modern practice” , Liliia Birukova “Punishment and its role in the counter crime system”, Alona Liakhova “Chemical castration as a form of punishment: modern experience and modern approaches”, Kateryna Labunets “Consideration of aggravating circumstances in sentencing for negligent crime”, Inha Narsiia “Life imprisonment: international experience”, and also they jointly participated in the discussion of ambiguous issues.

At the end of the meeting, it was decided to send abstracts for participation in the All-Ukrainian scientific conference of higher education “Mechanism of functioning of civil society (autumn readings)” (November 20, 2020, Lviv) and in the International scientific and practical Internet conference “Criminal law and criminological aspects of combating crime” (November 27, 2020, Odesa).

For the next meeting, members of the Scientific Circle of the Department chose a topic dedicated to the legalization of weapons.
