A regular meeting of the Scientific Circle of the Department of Criminal Procedure, Criminalistics and Expertology of Faculty № 6 of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs chaired by Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Procedure, Criminalistics and Expertology, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor Svitlana Lozova took place online using Zoom video conferencing software.

The Head of the Department of Materials, Substances and Products of Kharkiv Scientific Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Candidate of Law Nataliia Kosmina attended the meeting of the Scientific Circle. She told students about the main types of drugs, their analogs and precursors and the features of their expert research. The types of herbal drugs (cannabis, hypnotic poppy), which are most common in Ukraine, were considered in detail. The issue of drug trafficking regulation in Ukraine was also examined.

Nataliia Kosmina answered numerous students’ questions, specifically about the possibilities of cannabis legalization in Ukraine, told about its useful properties in the treatment of a number of serious diseases (epilepsy, oncology), outlined both positive and negative aspects of legalization. The students were also interested in the issues of drug disposal after the research conducted in the framework of the investigation of criminal proceedings.
