Department of Legal Support of Entrepreneurial Activity and Financial Security of the Educational and Research Institute No. 5 has been working on providing cadets, students and trainees with educational and scientific publications since the first years of the University's existence. The department was established in May 1992 as the Department of Legal Basics of Business Activity, which taught the following courses: legal basics of business activity, private international law, cooperative, financial, banking and tax law.

The Department provides training for undergraduate and postgraduate students. The staff of the Department has developed the latest educational complexes of disciplines taking into account modern teaching methods, prepared and published a large number of scientific and methodological works. During the existence of the Department, more than fifty PhD and doctoral theses have been defended under the scientific supervision of professors and associate professors.

The teaching and educational process is provided by the scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department. The staff of the Department includes 16 positions: one position of the Head of the Department, 5 positions of the Professor of the Department, 7 positions of the Associate Professor of the Department, 2 positions of the Senior Lecturer.

The scientific research of the Department staff is aimed at solving both general theoretical issues of the relevant branches of law and issues related to police and law enforcement activities. Currently, the staff of the Department works in the following areas:

• economic law, corporate law;
• international private law;
• labor law; social security law;
• land law; agrarian law; environmental law, natural resource law;
• financial law; tax law, banking law.

The Department staff is actively working on preparing scientific and pedagogical potential for both KhNUIA and the National Police of Ukraine, namely: 5 postgraduate students are studying in the postgraduate program. Their topics are approved by the decision of the Academic Council of KhNUIA. All of them are actively working on their dissertation research.
