The Head of the Department is Doctor of Legal Sciences, Professor Zhornokui Yurii Mykhailovych
The Department of Civil Law and Proceedings of the Faculty № 6 was established as part of the Educational and Research Institute of Law, Economics and Sociology of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs in August 2006. Since October 2016 and until now, the Department of Civil Law and Proceedings of the Faculty № 6 has been headed by Doctor of Law, Professor Yurii Mykhailovych Zhornokui.
The educational process is provided by the scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department. The staffing of the Department is 16: one position of the Head of the Department, two positions of Professors of the Department, seven positions of Associate Professors of the Department, four positions of senior lecturers of the Department, one position of lecturer and one position of senior laboratory assistant. The Department employs 18 research and teaching staff members, including 3 Doctors and 10 Candidates of Science.
The Department teaches the following disciplines: "Copyright and related rights, intellectual property law", "Economic process" (elective discipline), "Contract law" (elective discipline), "Ensurement and protection of intellectual property rights", "Obligatory law" ( selective discipline), "Communicative competence in law enforcement activities", "Directions of the development of the science of civil law", "Fundamentals of Roman private law", "Protection of family rights and interests in law enforcement activities" (selective discipline), "Intellectual property law", "Property law" (elective discipline), "Family law" (elective discipline), "Drafting procedural documents in civil cases" (elective discipline), "Inheritance law" (elective discipline), "Modern problems of alternative consideration of civil disputes" (elective discipline) , "Modern doctrines of family law", "Modern doctrines of civil law", "Modern doctrines of civil procedure", "Modern problems of family law" (selective discipline), "Modern problems of civil law", "Modern problems of civil justice of Ukraine", "Civil law", "Civil procedure".
Today the staff of the Department works in the following areas of research:
The staff of the Department actively works on the training of scientific and pedagogical staff who receive the third (educational and scientific) degree of higher education – Doctor of Philosophy. Today, the Department has 25 full-time and part-time graduate students. Their topics were approved by the decision of the Academic Council of KhNUIA.
The Department has a student scientific and research circle under the leadership of Assistant Professor of the Department, Candidate of Legal Sciences, Associate Professor Yu.I. Chalyi. The scientific works of the students, participating in the circle, have repeatedly won prizes both at the annual final university conference and in scientific events held outside the university.
