The history of the University informational support

The Department of Software and Computer Networks was established at the University of Internal Affairs in 1995. The Research Information and Computer Center was established on the basis of the Department in May 2001. The Center’s activity is specialized in the problems of the University informational support and its branches, as well as the development of regional cooperation with higher educational establishments of Kharkiv City. The Centre was reorganized into the Scientific-Technical and Informational-Computer Centre in 2006. Then the Centre was reorganized into the Department of Information Technology in 2013.

The main functions of the Department are:
- implementation of elements of modern information and communication technologies in the activities of university’s employees and departments;
- creation of an integrated information and management environment;
- development of internal sources and expansion of access to external sources of electronic information.

The main functions of the Department are:
• conduction of up-to-date records of computer equipment and technical aids of education of the University’s units, analysis of its technical condition, the possibility of restoring, repairing, support of the write-off procedure;
• periodic inspection of the technical condition of computer equipment in the structural units of the university;
• preparation of proposals for planning, design, development, and implementation of information systems and technologies of support of corporate interaction of higher education establishments within the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine;
• development, design and maintenance of a local network of computing machines of the university;
• technical support of information systems functioning at the university, provision of advice to users about working with them;
• provision of technical advice to users of the local network of computing machines, maintenance and work of repairing computers, peripherals and network equipment at the university;
• ensuring, within the limits of its authority, the implementation of measures to prevent and combat corruption, control of their carrying out in the unit, and strict compliance of anti-corruption provisions.
