Department of International Cooperation of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs is a structural subdivision, created in the University with the purpose of ensuring of effective work of the University towards expansion and deepening of international cooperation, enhancement of its authority in the world, assistance to the increase of level of teachers qualification by co-ordination of scientific and educational research contacts with corresponding educational establishments abroad, documents preparation for foreign business trips of the university staff.

In its activities, the Department is guided by the Constitution and laws of Ukraine, resolutions of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, acts of the President of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, orders, the University Charter, the Regulations on the Department of International Cooperation, as well as other regulatory legal acts on international cooperation.

The main activities of the Department of International Cooperation include:

- organization and coordination of international cooperation, planning of the University's activities on international activities with law enforcement agencies, educational institutions, research and other institutions of foreign countries, international organizations, etc;

- accumulation and generalization of information on planned and implemented activities according to the areas of activity;

- establishing and strengthening ties with foreign educational institutions, research institutions, organizations, and foundations;

- inviting and organizing receptions of individual foreigners and foreign delegations at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs;

- support of the process of concluding agreements on international cooperation;

- collecting and processing data on international programs, projects, trainings, seminars, etc;

- advising the permanent and variable staff of the University on participation in scholarship programs, internships, exchange programs, competitions, scientific and practical conferences, seminars, trainings, round tables, etc. and providing the structural units of the University with information materials on the terms of participation;

- preparation of documents for foreign business trips and control over their timely submission;

- conducting joint research on topical issues of law enforcement with foreign partners.

- assistance in holding scientific and practical conferences, seminars, trainings, round tables aimed at preventing crime, protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens, ensuring public order and combating crime, etc;

- expanding contacts in the field of joint implementation of scientific and practical projects (by creating joint working groups and creative teams).
