The Faculty is a structural unit of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, whose main task is to provide training according to the state order on a full-time education for the criminal police of the National Police of Ukraine in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine No. 535 dated June 22, 2016 “On organization of human resource development at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs”.
The Faculty trains specialists in accordance with current legislation and state educational standards through a combination of modern methods of learning and teaching methods, scientific, organization and educational work.
The main areas of activity of the Faculty include provision of high-quality educational training of specialists of relevant degrees of higher education; cultural and spiritual development of the personality, education of cadets in the spirit of Ukrainian patriotism, humanism and respect for the Constitution of Ukraine; raise of the educational and cultural level of permanent and non-permanent personnel; and conduction of applied scientific researches on current issues of law-enforcement authorities; organization of practical training and internships for candidates for higher education in the field of future service, in conjunction with the National Police units; maintenance relations with units for the further employment of graduates.
Educational process is supported by a strong educational and research team consisting of 5 Doctors of Science and 5 Professors, 30 Candidates of Science, 17 Associate Professors and 2 Senior Researchers.
The Faculty includes four Departments:
In the 2021/2022 academic year, the academic staff of the Departments of the Faculty provides teaching of 38 academic disciplines.
The Department of Operational and Investigative Activities and Crime Solution is the graduating department of the Faculty No. 2 for training specialists for criminal police units. The academic staff of the department provides teaching in the academic year 2021-2022 of the following disciplines: Agent operational work; Use of modern information technologies in operational and investigative activities; Criminal analysis; Covert work of operational units of the National Police; Covert investigative (search) actions; Operational and investigative activities; Operational and investigative tactics; Operational and investigative documentation; Organizational and tactical principles of application of operational equipment by units of the National Police; Fundamentals of criminal analysis; Workshop on operational and investigative documentation; Combating crimes related to human trafficking; Psychology of operational and investigative activities; Secrecy regime; Intelligence and analytical work of the National Police.
The peculiarity of the academic staff is significant practical experience in the operational and search units of the internal affairs bodies, the National Police of Ukraine and significant pedagogical experience.
The Department of Social and Economic Disciplines provides training in the following disciplines: Logic; Fundamentals of Economic Theory; Political Science; Police Deontology; Sociology; Philosophy; Philosophy of Science; Legal Logic.
The educational process is provided by eight PhDs. The scientific and pedagogical staff has prepared more than 35 monographs, textbooks, manuals and participated in numerous scientific and practical conferences of various levels.
The main areas of research interests of the Department are: research of problems of economic security; counteraction to economic and financial crime; vectors of sociological research; theoretical and practical principles of human rights in a legal democratic state, etc.
The Department of Labor and Commercial Law provides training in the following disciplines: Commercial Law, Doctrines of Social Security Law: History and Modernity, Doctrines of Labor Law: History and Modernity, Environmental Law, Directions of Development of Social Security Law Science, Directions of Development of Labor Law Science, Legal Regulation of Economic and Environmental Protection, Labor Law. The educational process is carried out by two doctors and five candidates of law. The academic staff has prepared more than 20 monographs, textbooks, and manuals and regularly participates in numerous scientific and practical conferences. Every year, the Department organizes all-Ukrainian scientific and practical conferences of specialists in the field of labor law and round tables with the participation of cadets.
The Department of Ukrainian Studies provides teaching of the following disciplines: History and Culture of Ukraine, Ukrainian Language for Professional Purposes, Dissertation Research Methodology and Linguistic Features of Scientific Style; Legal Documentation. The Department has one Doctor, Professor, two Candidates of Philology, and a Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences. The academic staff has prepared more than 20 monographs, textbooks, manuals, more than 300 articles, and participated in more than 50 scientific conferences of various levels. Every year, the leading scholars of the department hold round tables dedicated to various significant dates in the history of Ukraine, stages of T. H. Shevchenko and P. Yatsyk International Competitions.
The Faculty has an active Academic Council, a collegial body that makes decisions on key issues of educational and methodological, research, personnel and educational work in accordance with the priority areas of research of the Faculty and the needs of the educational process.
Nowadays, the Faculty trains specialists to serve in the units of strategic investigations, criminal investigation, operational and technical measures, operational service, combating crimes related to human trafficking, organized and economic crime, drug trafficking, financial and accounting units of the bachelor's level of higher education in the specialties:
Today, more than 540 cadets are being educated in the Faculty, and all the conditions for comprehensive development and preservation of their health have been fulfilled. Cadets can modern, equipped with multimedia rooms, comfortable rooms for accommodation, gyms and polygons
After the successful graduation from Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, graduates of the Faculty are awarded a special rank “police lieutenant”, qualification of a “Lawyer” and they are sent for further service in the practical bodies of the National Police of Ukraine.
