Educational and Research Institute No. 3 (Training of specialists for preventive activity units of the National Police of Ukraine) of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs was established in 2024 on the basis of the Faculty No. 3.

The Educational and Research Institute No. 3 of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs trains specialists for the preventive activity units of the National Police of Ukraine under educational and professional programs with bachelor's and master's degrees in the following specialties:

  • 262 “Law Enforcement”;
  • 053 “Psychology”.

The Educational and Research Institute No. 3 fruitfully cooperates with representatives of practical units of law enforcement agencies to ensure the applied nature of scientific research and its implementation in the educational process. Cooperation with the component units is an integral part of the educational process of the faculty.

The educational process at the faculty is focused on the academic performance of each cadet, which is systematically discussed at operational meetings with the director of the institute, at meetings of the institute's academic council, and at department meetings. Measures are being taken to improve cadets' academic performance, their achievements in education and research.

The Institute's departments have scientific clubs that allow cadets to engage in research activities. As part of the work of the cadets' scientific clubs, the Institute's academic staff provides scientific guidance to cadets in writing abstracts for conferences and articles for various competitions in legal and social and behavioral sciences.

The Institute includes the following Departments:

  • Administrative Law and Procedure;
  • Administrative Activity;
  • Psychology, Sociology and Pedagogy.

The scientific and pedagogical staff of the Institute's departments is constantly working to improve the educational, methodological, research and educational process. When conducting classes in specialized disciplines, special attention is paid to the involvement of employees of practical police units.

The faculty has all the conditions for the comprehensive development of the individual. Students take an active part in university-wide events, attend scientific circles, amateur art groups, and are active participants in sports competitions.

To ensure proper learning and living conditions, the institute has established and operates cadet self-government bodies, a council of excellent students, and a sports and mass council. Members of the Institute's cadet self-government are members of the Society of Students and Cadets of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs.

During martial law, cadets and master's students of the Institute No. 3 actively participate in public life and volunteerism. In particular, in such campaigns as: “Become a Donor”, ‘Give a Book to a Soldier’, ‘Visit a Wounded Soldier - Support a Hero’, they help in weaving camouflage nets and making trench candles. Students and faculty members visit soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine undergoing treatment in medical facilities, help families of military personnel, and provide legal assistance to the public. As part of the activities of the Psychological Health Center of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs (on a voluntary basis), master's students and cadets under the guidance of teachers of the Department of Psychology, Sociology and Pedagogy and employees of the Psychological Support Department gain experience in communicating with the public and providing psychological assistance.
