A complex and responsible set of tasks related to the training of specialists of various degrees of higher education and specialties at the expense of individuals and legal entities for the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, other ministries, central and local executive bodies, local governments, enterprises, institutions and organizations of Ukraine, is assigned to the Educational and Research Institute No. 5 of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs.
Educational and Research Institute No. 5 is a multidisciplinary structural unit of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, where full-time and part-time higher education students study at the expense of individuals and legal entities. The Institute has certain specifics regarding the training of specialists compared to other state and non-state HEIs that offer educational services in similar specialties in Kharkiv region.
Educational and Research Institute No. 5 is headed by Doctor of Law, Associate Professor Brusakova Oksana Valeriivna. The Institute has 8 Departments, 6 of which are specialized in certain specialties and specializations of training specialists. The Heads of the Departments are leading specialists with many years of experience in scientific, educational, methodological and organizational work, who have the degrees of Doctor of Sciences, Doctor of Philosophy and the academic titles of Professors and Associate Professors.
The Institute provides graduated training of specialists with the degrees of higher education "Bachelor" and "Master".
Training of specialists with the degree of higher education "Bachelor" is carried out on the basis of complete general secondary education in the following specialties:

The Department of Military Training trains higher education applicants for the reserve officer training program in the specialty "Moral and Psychological Support of Troops (Forces)". After its completion, applicants who have successfully passed the certification in the specialty are awarded the military rank of "junior lieutenant" of the reserve.
The "Legal Clinic" and "Gender Center" operate under the patronage of the institute, in whose activities scientific and pedagogical workers and higher education applicants of the institute, practicing lawyers, psychologists, sociologists and specialists in other fields take an active part.
The implementation of student self-government at the institute is carried out through the student council. Its main tasks are to ensure and protect the rights and interests of students, their fulfillment of their duties, promotion of the educational, scientific, creative activities of students, their participation in the implementation of state youth policy.
