The Department of Cybersecurity and DATA Technologies of the Educational and Research Institute No. 5 of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs is a basic structural unit of the university, which conducts educational, methodological, and scientific and research activities in order to ensure fundamental technical training of qualified specialists, as well as training of trainees and students in the field of information technologies.

History of the department

The Department was created in July 2021 by separating the Department of Information Technologies and Cybersecurity of the Faculty No. 4 into 2 Departments:

– Department of Combating Cybercrime of the Faculty No. 4;

– Department of Cyber ​​Security and DATA Technologies of the Faculty No. 6.

Due to the reorganization, the Department of Cybersecurity and DATA-Technologies has been functioning as part of the Educational and Research Institute No. 5 since September 2024.

At the first (bachelor's) level of higher education, the mandatory components of the educational program include the following disciplines: "Algorithmization and Programming", "Higher Mathematics", "Electronics and Circuit Engineering", "Information and Communication Technologies", "Cybersecurity", "Metrology and Measurement in the Field of Information Protection", "Organization of Databases and Knowledge", "Fundamentals of Cybersecurity", "Legal Principles of Information Protection", "Applied Cryptology", "System Programming", "Information Theory and Coding", "Technical and Computer Graphics", "Management and Organization in the Field of Information Security", "Physics", "Digital Forensics". The elective components of the educational program are the following academic disciplines: "Analytical work in countering cybercrime", "Architecture and structural and logical foundations of computers", "Security audit of computer systems and networks", "Security of electronic payment systems", "Introduction to the specialty", "Discrete mathematics", "Means of response and investigation of cyber incidents", "Integrated information protection systems: design, implementation, support", "Management of information protection systems", "Network technologies", "Methods and means of information protection", "Methods and means of technical information protection", "Operating systems and computer networks", "Fundamentals of applied analysis of big data in countering cybercrime", "Legal principles of cybersecurity", "Security technologies of e-commerce, banking and payment systems", "Digital signal processing".

At the second (master's) level of higher education, the mandatory components of the educational program include the following disciplines: "Risk-based analysis models in cybersecurity", "Modeling of complex nonlinear processes in cybersecurity", "Cybersecurity monitoring and audit", "Fundamentals of general systems theory", "Intelligence and analytical work in the cybersphere", "Development of secure mobile applications", "Investigation of cyber incidents related to virtual assets", "Standardization and certification in the field of information security", "Cybersecurity management of critical infrastructure facilities". The elective components of the educational program are the following subjects: "Methodology of Corporate Information and Technology Management SOVIET", "Microcontrollers in Information Protection Systems", "Models, Methods and Tools for Analytical Processing of Large Data Arrays", "Modern Problems of Ensuring State Information Security", "Telecommunication Systems and Networks of the New Generation", "Technical Means of Protecting Critical Infrastructure Facilities", "Dark Web, Anonymization, Privacy and Security Technologies", "Cloud Computing Technologies".
