The Institute of Postgraduate Education and Distance Learning of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs was established on June 27, 2024 as a result of the reorganization of the Institute of Postgraduate Education and Faculty No. 5 of KhNUIA in accordance with the Order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine dated 26.06.2017 No. 445 “On Organizational and Staff Changes in the Ministry of Internal Affairs”.

In its official activities, the Institute provides training of qualified specialists for the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the form of part-time education in accordance with the state order and conducts such types of postgraduate education as advanced training (including short-term) and specialization of police officers.

In accordance with the Procedure for Advanced Training of Pedagogical and Scientific and Pedagogical Workers, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of August 21, 2019 No. 800, the Institute of Postgraduate Education and Distance Learning provides advanced training to scientific and pedagogical (pedagogical) workers who work at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs at their main place of work, in accordance with the plans approved by the Rector (first Vice-Rector).

Research and teaching staff of the University can improve their qualifications directly at the University according to the programs developed by the Institute of Postgraduate Education and Distance Learning in cooperation with the departments and other units of the University. Forms of training are established depending on the complexity of the training programs, their purpose and content, taking into account the needs of the University.
One of the forms of advanced training for research and teaching staff and persons involved in the organization and support of the educational process is the School of Pedagogical Excellence (provided they have worked at the university for up to three years).

The activities of the Institute are ensured by the work of the relevant departments:

• Department of Distance Learning.
