A solemn day at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. 443 graduates, recent cadets, and now officers of the National Police of Ukraine, graduated from an educational institution where they mastered their future profession. Seven graduates received diplomas with honors.
Chairman of the Subcommittee on Criminal Legislation and Counteraction to Crime of the Committee on Law Enforcement Activities of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Bakumov, Director of the Department of Defense, Mobilization Work and Interaction with Law Enforcement Bodies of Kharkiv Regional State Administration Oleksii Maksymov, Deputy Head of the Department - Head of the Main Department for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime of the Department of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kharkiv Region Colonel Oleksandr Kabysh, Deputy Head of the Department - Head of the Investigative Department of the MDNP in Kharkiv Region Police Colonel Serhii Chyzh, Rector of the University Police General of the Third Rank Valerii Sokurenko, Rectors of the University of previous years Generals Oleksandr Bandurka and Serhii Husarov, Advisor-Consultant to the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of KhNUIA Iryna Yefremova Mykola Pakhnin, First Vice-Rector of the University, Colonel Dmytro Shvets, Vice-Rectors Serhii Bortnyk and Anatolii Klochko, university staff, other honored guests, parents and relatives of the graduates took part in the festivities.
After the introduction of the University Flag and the performance of the National Anthem of Ukraine, the audience observed a minute of silence in memory of all citizens who paid with their lives for Ukraine's right to be an indivisible and independent state, for its peace, tranquility and happy future.
The awarding of diplomas began, which was attended by honored guests of the holiday.
At the end, the student anthem "Gau de amus" was played and the dedication of law enforcement officers took place. Under the drumbeat, the graduate officers took off their hats and knelt on their right knees, bowing their heads. Touching the shoulder of each officer with a pen, the rector said: "I dedicate." This is an extremely solemn and symbolic act of consecration of a young man as an adult and courageous defender, a warrior who has sworn all his life to serve the Motherland and his people faithfully and truthfully.
Oleksandr Bakumov, a People's Deputy of Ukraine, addressed the graduates with congratulatory words. He conveyed greetings from the Chairman of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Dmytro Razumkov: Serve Ukraine honestly and with dignity, remain faithful to the Oath, do not betray the truth, goodness, and honor! Never forget: the trust of citizens is an important component of the daily work of law enforcement. Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will continue to make every effort to make you feel socially protected, and the laws governing your activities will help to serve and protect with honor!”
Addressing the youth, Oleksandr Bakumov emphasized: “Today, on the Day of the National Police of Ukraine, you joined its ranks. Congratulations on graduating and receiving the long-awaited diplomas. The main thing is that there is real knowledge behind this diploma because many human destinies will depend on your actions. Therefore, I urge you to be responsible, never to betray the Oath. One wrong step calls into question the work of all members of the National Police - in terms of their competence, professionalism, and training. Congratulations on the National Police Day, graduating from Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs! Good health, peace, happiness, and harmony to you and your families!”
Director of the Department of Defense, Mobilization and Interaction with Law Enforcement Bodies of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration Oleksii Maksymov conveyed greetings from the Head of Kharkiv Regional State Administration Aina Tymchuk and noted: “Dear graduates, tomorrow you will start service in the National Police, will protect the legitimate interests of our citizens, ensure their safety. Your work is extremely important. Let the principles of legality, justice, responsibility, and humanity be the basis of your professional activity. Be worthy of the high mission of the defender of Ukraine! ”
Serhii Chyzh, Deputy Chief and Chief of the Investigation Department of the MDNP in Kharkiv Region, conveyed greetings to the graduates from the Chief of the MDNP in Kharkiv Region, Police Colonel Andrii Rubel: “Graduation is the beginning of your career. Serve with honor and dignity. Your knowledge and skills acquired at the university will be a solid foundation for successful performance and career growth. "
On behalf of the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of KhNUIA Iryna Yefremova, Mykola Pakhnin, an advisor-consultant, greeted the graduates: Thanks to teachers, commanders, all tireless mentors, you have gained quality knowledge. This is your main professional weapon, the foundation for personal success and career growth. I wish you good health, happiness, and success in life and profession! May each of you always feel the reliable shoulder of a friend! ”
On behalf of the parents, the mother of the graduate Alla Perederieieva addressed the management of the educational institution with words of gratitude for the science and upbringing of the children. She thanked for the proper conditions created at the university, for the caring attitude, mentoring, and support they felt during all the years of study.
Police Lieutenant Nataliia Rastorhuieva, on behalf of the university graduates, assured them that they would be dedicated to serving the people, defending the state, and increasing the glory of the university. She also offered to lay flowers at the monument to law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty, defending law and order.
The rector of the university Valerii Sokurenko addressed the graduates with parting words: “Today is a holiday, the Day of the National Police. And it is on this memorable day that we are holding another graduation of young officers. You were educated in one of the best universities in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. Thanks to the support of the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, the Board of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the university is developing. We are improving our educational and material base, and each of you has also made efforts to build our university so that it would be the best not only in Slobozhanshchyna but in the whole country. I am grateful to the honored guests who are with us today and who do everything to make the university meet the requirements of today, was at the level of European and world standards. Teachers, professors of the university have provided you with the necessary skills, abilities, knowledge so that you are ready for the challenges that exist in the world. Crime has no borders, it is international, mobile, and modern, but your professionalism must stand in the way of any challenges. Remember that the path you have chosen and the duty imposed on you by the state, citizens, you must justify, serve with high responsibility, improve professional skills. The doors of the university are always open for you. In the future, you will be able to become both masters and doctors and enter the classroom as teachers, heads of departments of the university, deans. I am sure that it will be so, but for this, you must be honest, fair, and humane. Remember that citizens' trust in the National Police and safety on the streets are the highest indicators of our professional qualities and achievements.

During the graduation of young police officers, the rector presented awards to employees of higher education institutions and wished them further success in their professional and official activities. For exemplary performance of official duties, personal initiative, and dedication, the Diplomas of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine awarded Deputy Dean of the Faculty № 3 Police Major Ihor Shevchenko and the head of the medical unit Oksana Nedilko.
A farewell ceremony with the University Flag took place. Police Lieutenant Roman Furso was entrusted with this honorary mission on behalf of all graduates. The motto of the National Police of Ukraine is "Serve and protect!" The cadets answered three times: "We swear!"
During the festivities, the guests were shown performances by carabinieri, drummers and amateur artists. The event ended with a lieutenant's waltz performed by graduates.
