On the basis of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, training sessions for representatives of the National Police of Ukraine on "Custody Records" within the project "PRAVO Police" (UNOPS) were started for the first time.

The training was opened by the Head of the Human Rights Department of the National Police of Ukraine, Police Colonel Ruslan Horiachenko, and the First Vice-Rector of the University, Police Colonel Dmytro Shvets.

The training sessions will be conducted by trainers of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Peter Wilson and William Brame, criminal investigation advisers/trainers of the European Union Advisory Mission Milena Marinova and Crista Granroth, experts on training in criminal investigations of the European Union Advisory Mission.

Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs has implemented a Custody Records operation model on the basis of the training ground "Police Training Department", which is used by the police to improve compliance with the standards of protection of the rights of detainees.

The UNOPS and EUAM experts in cooperation with the Office of Human Rights of the NPU will hold four training sessions (5 days each). Each training will contain two modules: “Human Rights Concerning Detainees” and “Conducting Interviews for Police Officers working with Detainees”.
