The library presents to the university community a book-illustrative exhibition "Walter Scott - a master of the historical novel", dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the birth of the famous English novelist, poet Walter Scott (1771-1832).
The exposition reveals the biography of the writer, personal life, the beginning of his career, and his literary activity. Walter Scott was the first to write a historical novel and he is considered the founder of this genre. The language of his works is unique, bright, alive, this is what guaranteed the author incredible success with readers. His novels immediately became bestsellers, they were read and reread not only in the writer's homeland but also far beyond. Scott was the first to introduce the world to Scottish culture and identity.
He created many works, which were guided in their work by writers of subsequent generations. His creative legacy is huge - he wrote about 30 novels on dramatic moments in Scottish, English, and Western European history.
Walter Scott's works have forever entered the golden fund of world literature and today they are the decoration of the university library. These are well-known novels: "Ivanhoe", "Quentin Dorward", "Perth Beauty" and others.
