The educational and cultural center of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs hosted ceremonial events dedicated to the 165th anniversary of the birth of
the outstanding Ukrainian writer, poet, scientist, publicist, politician Ivan Franko.
The event was attended by a corresponding member of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Law, Professor Oleksandr Bandurka, Vice-
Rectors of the University Serhii Bortnyk, Mykhailo Burdin, deans of faculties, representatives of departments and other units of the university, cadets.
In their speeches, the audience emphasized that Ivan Franko was a person with great ability to work, extremely talented, knew many foreign languages. His
creative work, written in Ukrainian (most of the texts), as well as in Polish, German, Russian, Bulgarian, Czech, is estimated at several thousand works, and
the printed legacy reaches 50 volumes of the "Collection of Works". As Oleksandr Bandurka noted in his speech, Ivan Franko always thought about his land and the
Ukrainian people, he was a real citizen, he gave all his strength to make the life of Ukrainians better: "Through his work and multifaceted activities, he awakened the
Ukrainian mentality, national consciousness, and defended the Ukrainian language".
Serhii Bortnyk noted that it is a great honor and pride for the university staff that Ivan Franko is honored today in the educational and cultural center of the university, established in 2018.
The head of the Department of Ukrainian Studies at the University Ihor Chornyi said that the exhibition dedicated to the 165th anniversary of Kamenyar presents
collections of his works and coins of that time, but the collection will be replenished. Dean of the Faculty № 6 Oksana Brusakova donated to the museum several editions of works by Ivan Franko, national stoneware.
During the event there was a solemn presentation of the portrait of the writer, his poetic works and songs based on the poet's poems, which were performed by
cadets of the university.
