On the occasion of the 165th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Yakovych Franko (1856-1916), a prominent Ukrainian poet, novelist, playwright, literary critic, publicist, translator, scientist, public and political figure, the library of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs presented the camp staff book-illustrative exposition "The Legend of Eternal Life".
There are three main characters in Ukrainian literature - T.H. Shevchenko, Lesia Ukrayinka and Ivan Franko. During his more than 40 years of creative activity, Ivan Franko worked extremely fruitfully as an original writer (poet, novelist, playwright) and a translator, a literary critic and a publicist, a multifaceted scholar, a literary,
linguistic, translation and art critic, an ethnologist and a folklorist, a sociologist, a political scientist, an economist, a philosopher. Ivan Franko left a very large,
cultural heritage. His creative work, written not only in Ukrainian but also in many foreign languages, is estimated to number several thousand works with a total
volume of over 100 volumes. More than 220 publications have been published on individual books and brochures, including more than 60 collections of his original
and translated works of various genres. He was one of the first professional Ukrainian writers, that is, he earned his living by literary work.
The book-illustrative exposition presented in the library contains novels, works, sonnets of the author. In total, the library has about 50 titles of publications by Ivan
Franko. Among them are well-known novels "Zakhar Berkut", "Boryslav is Laughing", the play "Stolen Happiness" and others.
The library invites the university community to get acquainted with the book-illustrative exposition.
