Celebrations dedicated to the Day of Knowledge were held at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. The university management, honored guests, representatives of the scientific and pedagogical staff, parents and relatives of cadets and students of the university gathered on a large square to greet the youth on the beginning of the new academic year.
After the introduction of the University Flag, the audience observed a moment of silence in honor of the patriotism, courage, loyalty and heroism of those who laid down their lives for the unity and independence of Ukraine.
The Rector of the University, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine, Police General of the Third Rank Valerii Sokurenko addressed the audience. He greeted the audience on the Day of Knowledge and the beginning of the new school year and conveyed greetings from the Minister of Internal Affairs Denys Monastyrskyi: "Today we celebrate in Ukraine a holiday that unites a large community of past, present and future students and educators. It is also a family holiday, because educated, talented and innovative young people are the pride of any family. The task of the teams of our educational institutions is to teach graduates to be effective and proactive, using modern achievements of science and technology, attracting the best foreign experience. I believe that the abilities of our teachers, their persistence and professionalism will be the key to the formation of the future elite of law enforcement in our country. "Addressing the freshmen, Valerii Sokurenko said: “Today, on September 1, you will enter the classrooms of our university for the first time - one of the best among higher education institutions in Ukraine. You will be taught by teachers - professionals of the highest quality and true patriots of our Ukraine, who have not only excellent knowledge but also practical experience. All you need is diligence and perseverance. It is necessary to visit libraries, go in for sports, learn foreign languages.
Today is a good, warm, sunny day. I wish that all the days in your life were just like that, that misfortune and harm spared your homes, that your relatives and friends were healthy, that there was harmony in families! Believe in your strength and always remember that education will stay with you for a lifetime. This is the core that will allow you to make a successful career.
We are proud of our graduates, who today work in the Office of the President, the National Police, the Prosecutor General's Office, head regional state administrations, the Main Departments of the National Police in the regions, and so on. I want you to achieve your goal in life. I am convinced that you will definitely succeed! Serve and work so that people will respect you and the Lord God will protect you! ”
Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Law, Professor, Rector of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs 2012-2015, Police General Colonel Serhii Husarov said: "The leadership of the university in different years has always made a lot of efforts to build the university, to arrange its territory. We have an excellent material and technical base - modern classrooms, training grounds, gyms and playgrounds. You have made the right choice by choosing our university to study at. I wish everyone health, inspiration and perseverance in learning! "
Congratulations from the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the University, Candidate of Law, Associate Professor Iryna Efremova were conveyed by the Advisor-Consultant Mykola Pakhnin: "Dear freshmen! Congratulations on joining the big family of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs! I am sure that each of you will feel not only a part of the glorious team of the university, but also a person who in a few years will form the European law enforcement system of our state!”
Generals Valerii Sokurenko and Serhii Husarov presented the first-year students with the symbolic attributes of the studies "Credit Book" and "Key to Knowledge". The first bell ring once again reminded everyone of the beginning of the new school year.
The festivities ended with a performance by the amateur art team of the university and the cadet unit of drummers.
