On September 2, Sumy residents celebrate the City Day. It was on this day in 1943 that the territory of the regional center was liberated from Nazi invaders. So, every year on this day, all citizens honor the memory of those killed during World War II.

On the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the liberation of Sumy from Nazi invaders and for the purpose of national-patriotic education, the 2nd year cadets of the Sumy branch of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs took part in a solemn city rally "War is over and memory is alive" at the ''Eternal Glory'' Memorial Complex.

The cadets together with the representatives of state authorities and local governmental bodies, various institutions and organizations, military personnel, city residents, young people from different educational institutions laid flowers and observed a minute of silence in the memory of victims.
