This has been announced today, on the 3rd of September, by the Minister of Internal Affairs Denys Monastyrskyi during an interactive lesson on compliance with traffic rules and safe behavior on the street with students of Kyiv Specialized School No.15 of I-III degrees with advanced study of English.
The bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs pay great attention to preventive activities to create a safe environment on the roads of Ukraine. Therefore, from the 1th of September to the 10th of September almost 200 school police officers in 37 cities of the country will conduct such interactive exercises for schoolchildren as part of the All-Ukrainian Action of the Ministry of Internal Affairs "Knowledge Day".
Denys Monastyrskyi said that according to statistics about 4,000 children are injured on the roads of Ukraine every year and about 160 children die.
"Creating a safe environment on the road is a priority of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Attentiveness on the road, the correct way crossing the road in the designated place, use of seat belts - these simple basic rules allow road users to avoid traffic accidents. Therefore, I emphasize the importance to adher to the Rules of the Road strictly," said Denys Monastyrskyi.
The pupils were communicative during the lesson, they told the Minister about the importance of following traffic rules enthusiastically and they even made suggestions for improving safety on the roads. Denys Monastyrskyi presented the students with badges and certificates of a "young law enforcement officer".
School resource officers attended the event and told the children about the peculiarities of their job, presented books on road safety and reflective strips that make a small pedestrian visible in the dark. Patrol officers held knowledge competitions of traffic rules and allowed children to sit in their police cars.
