Every year on September 22, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Partisan Glory, as a tribute to the national respect and honor of the heroism of the participants in the struggle against Nazism in the ranks of the partisan movement, the bright memory of those killed on the fronts of World War II.
The partisan movement was truly a nationwide struggle against the Nazism invaders and one of the most powerful in Europe. The feat of partisans and underground fighters in 1941-1945 will remain in our memory and history forever.
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the partisan movement in Ukraine, an educational event "Sumy region - the cradle of the partisan movement" was held for first-year students of Sumy branch of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs.
During the event, students were told about the activities of the partisan movement in Sumy region, about the heroic pages of the past, about the first detachments of people's avengers in Spadschansky forest - the cradle of the partisan movement, that in Sumy region there were 41 partisan detachments. The students learned that on February 23, 1942, the first and only partisan parade took place in the Nazism-occupied territory of Sumy Region in the village of Dubovychi, Krolevets district. Students watched the documentary "We did not go into battle for glory."
Anna Mititel, a leading specialist in the personnel department, said that young people should know and respect the history of their land, be proud of their glorious fellow partisans, and preserve the memory of the courage of the defenders and liberators of their homeland.
