A round table dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy was held in the Scientific Library of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. The event was attended by Academician of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Laws, Professor, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine Oleksandr Bandurka, representatives of the scholar and academic staff of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, Faculty №1, cadets, graduate students.
The event was opened by Oleksandr Bandurka, who noted that the young generation of Ukrainians should always remember the lessons of history, our ancestors who died because of terrible famines, repressions, wars, appreciate, protect Ukraine and at the same time create a new and unique history of their country.
Cadets, students and graduate students' speaches were devoted to various aspects of the Holocaust: “The place of anti-Semitism in the ideology of Nazism”, “Inhumane orientation of “racial laws” which had force in Nazi Germany before World War II”, “Unprecedented mass extermination of civilians in death camps”. The tragedies of the Holocaust in Ukraine were considered separately – the mass extermination of Jews and other people in the territories of Babyn Yar in Kyiv and Drobytskyi Yar in Kharkiv.
