Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs has agreed to open a Center for Technology and Innovation Support (TISC). It is an international project to support invention, innovation and startup projects, launched by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). TISC – an atypical state support tool, which is on the same wavelength with innovative companies and operates within the structure of the national patent office – Ukrpatent.

Representatives of KhNUIA – Advisor to the Rector on Gender Issues, Associate Professor, Candidate of Law Oksana Tsukan and Associate Professor, Candidate of Economic Sciences Maryna Petchenko took part in an online webinar for representatives of the TISC network.

The speakers of the webinar were experts of the Department of Examination of Applications for inventions, utility models and composition of the Ukrainian Institute of Intellectual Property (Ukrpatent).

The following topics were covered during the webinar:

- modern approaches to the consideration of objects of the invention, which are mathematical methods;

- practice of patenting mathematical methods, financial or business models in Ukraine or abroad;

- establishing compliance with the criterion of inventive step for certain categories of inventions;

- features of applications for inventions (utility models);

- setting priority: multiple, partial and abandon it and much more.

The knowledge gained during the webinar will be practically used at the university for inventive activities and protection of intellectual property.
