The open championship of the city on bench press was held in Sumy, dedicated to the memory of “Honorary Citizen of Sumy” (posthumously), Police Major Oleksandr Tkachenko.

Competitions gathered athletes from different parts of Sumy region. Almost 100 participants of the championship won awards in different weight categories by groups: athletes with ORA, women, police officers and combatants (according to different weights of sports equipment).

Representatives of Sumy branch of KhNUIA – the 4^th year student Kateryna Krapyvna and the 1^st year cadet Yaroslav Proidysvit – performed on a par with the masters of sports.

Kateryna Krapivna won the 1^st place in her weight category with the result of 30 kg, Yaroslav Proidysvit took the 2^nd place with the result of 63.5 kg.
