"Realizing my high responsibility, I solemnly swear to serve Ukrainian people faithfully, respect the Constitution and laws of Ukraine, implement it in life, respect and protect human rights and freedoms, the honor of the state, bear the high rank of police officer and perform my duties conscientiously."
75 future specialists of the preventive units of the National Police of Ukraine swore to serve Ukrainian people faithfully and received police badges.
Leonid Mohilevskyi, the Vice-Rector of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, Olena Boiko, the Deputy Head of Sumy Regional State Administration, Vira Motrechko, the Deputy Head of Sumy Mayor, Viktoriia Hrobova, the Director of the Department of Education and Science of Sumy Regional State Administration, Mykola Khudenko, the Deputy Head of the Headquarters of the National Police in Sumy Region, Police Colonel, Ihor Poladych, the Head of the Department of Human Resources in Sumy Region, Oleksii Kaliuzhnyi, the Head of the Division of patrol police in Sumy Region, Police Major, Serhii Lukash, the Director of Sumy branch, staff of the branch, parents and relatives of freshmen participated in the event.
At the beginning of the event, all attendees observed a moment of silence for the patriotism, courage, loyalty and heroism of those who laid down their lives for the freedom, unity and independence of Ukraine.
Leonid Mohilevskyi, the Vice-Rector of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, on behalf of the Rector of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, Police General of the Third Rank Valerii Sokurenko congratulated the freshmen on the solemn Taking of the Oath of a Police: "Always be persistent and determined in achieving your goals, especially in the field of police education. Meet the new demands and challenges of the time! I am sincerely convinced that you will remain committed to the Oath in all circumstances, direct all your strength and professional skills to maintaining peace and tranquility".
Olena Boiko, the Deputy Head of Sumy Regional State Administration addressed the cadets: "Remember this day, because today you are giving a solemn commitment to loyalty to Ukrainian people. The path you have chosen imposes on you the duty to be the guardians of honesty, the rule of law and equality before the law, and always perfom the tasks with high responsibility".
Mykola Khudenko, Deputy Head of the Headquarters of the National Police in Sumy Region, Police Colonel addressed to the freshmen: "The implementation of positive achievements and experience depends on your motivation in choosing a profession, determination, strength and courage! Not only your career but also the future of the country depends on knowledge and skills that you will acquire while studying! This is a great responsibility and high trust! I am glad of your life choice. We need energetic, honest, sincere and open police officers. I am convinced that you will remain committed to the Oath in all circumstances, will not betray the truth, goodness and honor. Serve and Protect!".
Oleksii Kaliuzhnyi, the Head of the Division of patrol police in Sumy Region, Police Major noted: "The police is one of the main tools to protect the legitimate interests of the state and citizens. Every day the police pass their exam. And there is no way to pass or resit an examination as you have now. There should always be a grade of "excellent". Because each of these exams is an extremely high responsibility and someone's life or health".
Serhii Lukash, the Director of Sumy Branch, addressed the parents of the cadets and expressed gratitude for the education of freshmen and wished future law enforcement officers to serve with dignity and remember the words of the Oath all their lives.
Cadet Kateryna Prisich on behalf of all freshmen noted: "We know that the police profession is very responsible and requires hard training from us. We are confident that in Sumy Branch of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs we will get the most valuable: skills and knowledge that we will apply in the future''.
Happy freshmen marched in front of the leadership at the end of the solemn event.
Taking the Oath is an important stage in the lives of young police officers. These moments full of emotions and excitement that will remain in their memory for a lifetime, but for future defenders of the Law Taking the Oath is just the beginning of their way, honest and diligent training, acquisition and improvement of professional skills are waiting for them ahead.
