Solemn events were held on the occasion of awarding officer's shoulder straps to graduates of the Military Training Department of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. The initial military rank of "junior lieutenant of the reserve" and shoulder straps were awarded to citizens with a bachelor's degree, completed a full course of military training in the reserve officers' training program, passed exams and certified to officers at the Military Training Department of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. During two years, young men and women acquired new theoretical knowledge and practical skills in military affairs, mastering the following military specialties: "Psychology", "Social Psychology" and "Organization of moral and psychological support of troops (forces)". The shoulder straps were handed over by the Rector of the university, Police General of the third rank Valerii Sokurenko.

Addressing the audience, he noted that receiving the rank of officer is a solemn event in the life of every person. "I am proud of you, I am proud that at a difficult time for Ukraine you entered the Military Training Department of our university, received the necessary knowledge, skills, abilities to hold weapons in your  hands and stand up for the sovereignty of our state, its integrity and independence. I am convinced that everyone who stands on this roll call ground will be honored to carry the rank of officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine ", said the rector.

The events were attended by the Vice-Rector of the University Anatolii Klochko, the Head of the Military Training Department Colonel Serhii Babak, employees of the Department, parents and relatives of the graduates.
