An online lecture dedicated to the International Anti-Corruption Day was held at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs for applicants for higher education of KhNUIA. The main speaker of the event was Professor of Vytautas Magnus University (Lithuania), Doctor of Science Gediminas Bučiūnas.
The online event was attended by Olha Piskunova, Commissioner for Anti-Corruption Activities of KhNUIA, Olena Ustymenko, Head of the Department of International Cooperation, Olena Stativka, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages, representatives of the Department of International Cooperation and the Department of Foreign Languages.
During the event, Dr. Gediminas Bučiunas discussed the main reasons for committing corruption offenses, highlighted the main ways to prevent corruption, spoke about the World Corruption Perceptions Index, and acquainted with the European experience in combating this problem.
The speaker also analyzed the connection between corruption and organized crime and noted that the level of corruption can be reduced by creating an effective and efficient system of anti-corruption justice. The participants of the lecture actively asked questions to the speaker and received comprehensive answers.
