158 police officers from 15 regions of Ukraine – students of specialization courses of district police officers assigned to police stations of territorial communities, began training at the Institute of Postgraduate Education of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. The event was attended by the Rector of the University, Police General of the Third Rank Valerii Sokurenko, Head of the Department for Community Relations of the Department of Preventive Activities of the National Police Captain Maiia Breslavska, First Vice-Rector, Police Colonel Dmytro Shvets, Vice-Rector, Police Colonel Serhii Bortnyk, staff of the University.
The festivities began with the introduction of the University Flag, the raising of the National Flag of Ukraine and the performance of the National Anthem. Welcoming the students with the beginning of their studies, the Rector of the university Valerii Sokurenko said: “I know that all of you have passed a strict selection, and today the best of the best stand on this square – motivated, with a great desire to gain new knowledge United States government, does its best to ensurethat you have everything you need. Communities provide you with office space,office equipment, and communications to ensure successful interaction,communication, and, most importantly, results. People in local communities needto feel safe: whether it is day or night, in their homes, on the streets andsquares. It is a difficult time now, but we know that Ukraine is united, and weare united Ukrainian people. Evidence of this is the fact that today all of you– representatives of 15 regions of Ukraine – gathered in the city of Kharkiv,located in the east of our country, to gain professional knowledge and continueto serve in a new quality of yours. The signed memorandum between themanagement of the main departments in the regions, the heads of territorialcommunities gives the opportunity to the district officer to work in thecommunity and not be distracted to perform functions uncharacteristic of him.Reforming the National Police is an extremely important task, one of the tasksof which is to bring the police closer to the people. The Minister of InternalAffairs Denys Monastyrskyi supports us in this direction, so study and serve sothat you are respected by people and protected by God! Glory toUkraine!".
Maiia Breslavska, Head of the Community Relations Department of the Department of Preventive Activities of the National Police Department, stressed that the training program is very intensive, thus “It will be necessary to make every effort to acquire knowledge and the necessary skills. Be persistent and diligent in your studies! Territorial communities are already looking forward to seeing you. Good luck to all of you!”
For 2.5 months, students will master general law disciplines, deepen their knowledge of pre-medical, tactical special and firearms training, improve driving skills and many more.
After the solemn hour, the students began classes as scheduled.
