Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs celebrated the national holiday – the Day of Unity with solemn events. Representatives of the University staff, led by the management, gathered on the large square of the University to celebrate the Day of Unity. After the introduction of the University Flag, the audience sang the National Anthem of Ukraine, and the blue and yellow Flag of our state spread its wings wide over the University.
Congratulating the audience on the holiday, the First Vice-Rector of the University, Police Colonel Dmytro Shvets, said: “This day is special for us, Ukrainians. For more than a thousand years we have had to fight for our unity, identity and independence. And today, unfortunately, Ukraine is once again fighting an aggressor who encroaches on our territorial integrity. Those who encroach on our lands must know that we are united in the pursuit of freedom and for us the whole civilized world! We will not succumb to provocation and panic. We are strong and calm. We are together. Ukraine is United!”
The Day of Unity of Ukrainians, launched by the Presidential Decree, aims to strengthen the consolidation of Ukrainian society, strengthen its resilience in the face of growing hybrid threats. "Right now the Rector of our University, General Police of the Third Rank Valerii Sokurenko together with representatives of Kharkiv Regional State Administration is taking part in raising the largest State Flag in Ukraine", said the First Rector of the University, Academician of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, General Colonel of Militia Oleksandr Bandurka. “This day not only unites us, Ukrainians, it inspires us to good deeds, motivates us to be better, to love our land and our people. And this feeling of a single family is inherent in all of us, Ukrainians. They tried to impose different opinions, positions, panic on us, but we did not give in. We demonstrate to ourselves, to all of Ukraine and to the whole world our unity, high spirituality, loyalty to democratic values, and desire to do everything to make Ukraine a strong and prosperous state”.
The festivities ended with a flash mob and a parade of cadet units of the University faculties.
