Associate Professor of the Department of Social and Economic Disciplines of the Faculty No. 2, representative of the "Equal Opportunities" team of KhNUIA, Candidate of Economic Sciences, and Associate Professor Maryna Petchenko took part in a three-day training on "Competencies for Professional Growth", organized by the Ukrainian Association of Law Enforcement Officers with the support of the Ukrainian Women's Fund in cooperation with La Strada Ukraine and with the assistance of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

The purpose of the event was to increase participants' awareness of the provisions of the Istanbul Convention, the National Action Plan for the Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 "Women, Peace, Security" and the State Strategy for Ensuring Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men for the Period Until 2030.

The trainers at the event were: Halyna Zhukovska - senior referent of the Government Apparatus of the Commissioner for Gender Policy; Olha Perunova - deputy head of the Human Rights Monitoring Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, doctor of law; Nataliia Karbovska - director of strategic development of the Ukrainian Women's Fund; Anzhelika Serhiiets - project coordinator of the Ukrainian Women's Fund; Yuliia Nikolaichuk - program manager of the Ukrainian Association of Law Enforcement Representatives; Kateryna Borozdina - vice president of the NGO "La Strada-Ukraine"; Yevhen Bozhenko a psychologist at the Center for Mental Health of the National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy", consultant and supervisor of SETA (Johns Hopkins University, USA), crisis management trainer; Oleksandra Burlachenko is a psychologist at the Mental Health Center of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy National University, trauma-focused psychotherapist, suicide prevention trainer.

During the training, with the help of an academic and practice-oriented approach, knowledge and skills were acquired on the following issues: state gender policy: international and Ukrainian dimensions in conditions of war; implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 "Women, peace, security": Ukraine's experience; National Action Plan for the Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325: Implementation at the National and Local Levels in War Conditions, Recommendations for the Security and Defense Sector; implementation of the policy of gender equality in the bodies of Ministry of Internal Affairs; UN Security Council Resolution 1325 "Women, peace, security" – its importance for the security and defense sector; gender-based violence and its types; sexual violence is related to the conflict; prevention and counteraction of gender discrimination and sexual harassment; The Convention of the Council of Europe on the prevention of violence against women and domestic violence and the fight against these phenomena: criminal and administrative direction; stress and its impact on all spheres of human life; basic principles of psychological first aid; prevention of professional/emotional burnout in emergency situations; others

The theoretical part was reinforced with practical cases on the specified issues. Because of the successfully completed training program, Maryna Petchenko received a certificate. She is going to use the acquired knowledge and skills at the university work, carrying out scientific-pedagogical and educational activities.
