As part of long-term cooperation, 17 representatives of the European Union Advisory Mission in Ukraine, 15 of them foreigners, arrived to Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs in Kamianets-Podilskyi.

During the visit, the EUAM delegation held an official meeting with the University leadership, represented by the First Vice-Rector Viktor VASYLENKO, Directors of the Educational and Research Institutes No. 1 and No. 4 Vitalii ROMANIUK and Mykola MARCHUK, their Deputies Oleksii SALMANOV and Yurii ONYSCHENKO, as well as the Head of the International Cooperation Department Tetiana MATIUSHKOVA.

On behalf of the University Rector Valerii SOKURENKO, Viktor VASYLENKO welcomed the guests and stressed the importance of cooperation with European partners in the field of reforming the law enforcement system of Ukraine and improving the skills of law enforcement officers. In his speech, he emphasized the significant experience of both the university’s lecturers and officers, as well as cadets who perform professional duties in areas close to the lines of combat. This allows them to actively participate in the organization and conduct of training courses from the European Union Advisory Mission in Ukraine, acting as expert trainers. “Such cooperation contributes not only to professional development, but also significantly strengthens the partnership between the university and the Mission, ensuring high quality of joint work,” the First Vice-Rector noted.

Head of the International Crime Investigation Unit of EUAM Ukraine, Gary CORRIGAN, noted the high level of equipment of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs base in Kamianets-Podilskyi and the level of training of the cadets: “It is a great honor for me to be at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs base, as it gives me the opportunity to be part of an important process of training future experts.” Gary CORRIGAN also emphasized that joint work with Ukrainian colleagues is an important stage in the development of cooperation.

The participants of the meeting also discussed the issue of strengthening the practical training of higher education students, key aspects of organizing the educational process, and conducting trainings.

The purpose of the visit was to conduct a comprehensive training for cadets and employees of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, dedicated to methods of investigating war crimes, which are becoming particularly relevant in modern conditions. The following topics will be considered: “Stabilisation measures / public order protection”, “Use of Open Source information in criminal proceedings (OSINT) Practical OSINT on war crimes/case study”, “Criminal analysis”, “Tactical combat medicine”, “Tactical training / inspection of premises”, “Shelling: trajectory and weapons Recording the consequences of shelling. Use of UAVs Taking samples for DNA examination and Crime Scenes ”, “Strategy for preventing and combating sexual violence related to the conflict in Ukraine”, “Protocols of Witness Protection”, “International Humanitarian Law. European Court of Human Rights”.

Both sides emphasized the importance of such cooperation for the development of professional competencies of future law enforcement specialists.
