At the invitation of EUAM Ukraine, Oksana TSUKAN, a representative of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, Assistant to the Rector on Gender Issues, Candidate of Law, Associate Professor, spoke at a special event titled “Security Modernization: The Impact of Women Professionals in the Civilian Sector of Ukraine During the War”.
The event was attended by a representative of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights and representatives of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies – the National Police, the National Guard, the State Border Guard Service, the Judicial Guard Service, etc.
The aim of the conference was to highlight changes in the roles, challenges and resilience of women in Ukraine's law enforcement agencies in the context of ongoing military operations, to share examples and to emphasise the importance of preserving gender equality achievements after the end of hostilities.
During a strategic session conducted by representatives of the EUAM, Ukrainian speakers identified further steps to strengthen women's leadership in law enforcement agencies and discussed gender equality.
Riga Conference is an annual international meeting of regional and international experts on foreign policy and defence, academics, journalists and business representatives. It facilitates discussion and assessment of issues relevant to the transatlantic community. Since 2006, it has been one of the most authoritative platforms in the Baltic region.
