Representatives of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs – Professor of the Department of Psychology, Sociology and Pedagogy of the ERI No. 3 Svitlana KHARCHENKO, Associate Professors of the same department Oksana LIASKA and the Department of Psychology and Sociology of the ERI No. 5 Alla SHYLINA, as well as psychologist of the Psychological Support Department Yelyzaveta POSNA – took part in a round table on the topic ‘EU-certified training in providing first psychological aid: experience and prospects.’

The event was held in a hybrid format and brought together experts from different institutions and countries. Participants shared their practical experience of implementing first psychological aid training courses, discussed challenges, achievements and further prospects for the development of this initiative.

During the round table, a brief overview of the project, which is being implemented with the support of the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) in Ukraine, was presented. The team of experts provided a number of practical recommendations on training specialists capable of providing psychological support in crisis situations.

The main speakers at the event were:

– José Quintela Cardoso, expert of the EUAM specialised team in Ukraine;

– Ana Isabel CARNEIRO GONÇALVES, trainer of the same group.

The participants were also addressed by:

– Sofia RAMALO, President of the European Federation of Psychological Associations (EFPA);

– Pawel GRAJEK, Commander of the European Gendarmerie Force (EUROGENFOR);

– Valeriia PALII, President of the National Psychological Association of Ukraine (NPAU);

– Yheor NAZYMKO, Deputy Director of the Department of Education, Science and Sport of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine – Head of the Department of Science, Innovation and Sport.

Summing up the event, Rolf Holmboe, Head of the EUAM in Ukraine, emphasised the importance of interagency cooperation in the field of psychological support and human capacity development in wartime conditions.
