Svitlana VECHIRKO, Specialist of the International Cooperation Department of KhNUIA, and Liliia BIELAIA, Translator of the Department took part in the online webinar of the International Center for the Multigeneration Legacies of Trauma (ICMGLT) on the topic «International Efforts at Eliminating Multigenerational Violence against Women in Times of War and Peace».
The event was dedicated to the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women under the slogan «Break the silence or silence breaks you».
Webinar moderator Dr. Yael DANIELI – Clinical Psychologist, Traumatologist, Victimologist and Psychohistorian, Founder and Executive Director of ICMGLT at the UN – called for active resistance to violence and breaking silence to prevent the devastating effects of trauma.
The webinar was attended by international experts and human rights defenders from various countries, including representatives of the International Center for the Multigeneration Legacies of Trauma (ICMGLT), human rights defenders from Ukraine, Israel, Mexico, Haiti, South Sudan and a Yazidi activist who survived the genocide. Speakers discussed violence against women in various countries in times of war and peace, its multigenerational consequences and impact on social and cultural legacy. Considerable attention was paid to the situation in Ukraine, where millions of people suffered due to the war, including women and children who became victims of violence and forced deportations.
The webinar also covered international approaches to combating violence, the experience of human rights and public organizations, measures to support victims and strengthen the rights of women in communities. Participants had the opportunity to discuss challenges, successes and ways of cooperation, and in conclusion agreed to continue coordination through the ICMGLT platform at the UN.https://univd.edu.ua/uk/news/25902
