The opening of the final Chess Championship of the Kharkiv region was held in April 2 this year in Kharkiv Chess Club "Haharynets". It was attended by the winners of the semi-final of the competition among boys and girls, athletes with disabilities, veterans, and grandmasters and masters of world-class chess. The Championship is held under the patronage of Kharkiv Regional Council and Kharkiv Regional Chess Federation.

First Vice President of the Federation Gennady Krugovyi opening tournament, sent greetings to athletes from President of Federation Serhii Husarov, wished him success in competitions, new achievements and accomplishments, and noted that the popularity of this sport as chess is growing. This is not surprising, because chess - one of the few kind of sports that can engage people of different age and social status. "The task of our federation - not only to support professional sports, but also encourage the involvement of the general population to chess lessons" - said Gennady Krugovyi.

Closing of Championship will be held on April 10, this year, during which the winners of the competition will be announced.
