Practical classes related to new requirements of the University’s Editorial Boards of professional editions and the possibilities of new websites of these editions were held with scholars and post-graduate students at the University Library.
The head of the Editorial and Publishing Department, lieutenant colonel of police Petro Bilous and a specialist of the Division for Information Support of Scientific Editions of the same Department Svitlana Honcharuk were the speakers at the event. They have noted that Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs is the founder and publisher of a number of periodical scientific professional editions, among them the printed collections of scientific works the “Bulletin of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs” and the “Bulletin of the Criminological Association of Ukraine”, scientific journal “Law and Safety” and the electronic edition “Forum prava”. These editions have a great history, are rather popular among scholars, and their further development is going on.
In 2018, we accomplished the re-registration of the editions in the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and the ISSN International Center, online versions of the editions were registered, we launched the verification of the materials for literary piracy; after the University has become a member in the Publishers International Linking Association (PILA) all publications can get the DOI digital identifiers.
The procedure of the submission of materials for publication has also changed. This fact was specially emphasized by the speakers. It has been noted that the new procedure meets the requirements of the normative acts of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and is developed in accordance with the requirements that are applied to the editions by the leading international scientometric databases. All those present were acquainted with the procedure. Updated requirements for publications can be found on the website of the journal “Law and Safety”. Special attention has been paid to the new website, which was created by the joint efforts of the specialists of the Editorial and Publishing Department (Svitlana Honcharuk, Yuliia Hekova) and the Information and Technology Department (Volodymyr Maltsev), since it was implemented on the modern publishing platform Open Journal Systems. The usage of the new website provides significant opportunities for the authors, reviewers, publishers and other members of the publishing process that are based on modern technological solutions.
Consequently, the periodical scientific professional editions of the University intensify their work in accordance with modern requirements, and those scholars in the law and legal psychology fields, present on the event, were invited to provide their papers.
We are looking forward to cooperate with other scholars of Ukraine and abroad in publishing their works.
