The discussion of the current Strategy of Ukraine’s drug policy for the years of 2017-2020 and the new concept “Strategy of Ukraine's drug policy 2020-2030”, which provides the implementation of a balanced policy on psychoactive substances was held in Kyiv. The event was organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Justice and the National Police. During the conference participants learned about the experience of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Moldova in this sphere.
Deputy Head of the Scientific Research Laboratory on Crime Prevention Oleksii Serdiuk presented the report “Ukrainian Longitudinal Study: Implementation of New Approaches to Monitoring of Drug Distribution and Examination of the Reasons of dependence formation”. The Unique Study for Ukraine of Ukrainian Longitudinal Study (ULS) is implemented within the framework of multilateral international agreements between the KhNUIA and the State University “Institute for the Protection of Children’ and adolescents' Health of the AMN of Ukraine”, the Institute of Neurology, Psychiatry and Narcology of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”, G.S. Kostyuk Institute of Psychology of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, the School of Social Work of the University of Wayne (USA), the Center of Dependencies of the Michigan University (USA). The main purpose of the study is examination of the factors of dependence formation and effectiveness of prevention programmes.
