The Defensive Driving Cup competition was held at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. Six teams (2 members in each team) took part in the competition. The participants were representatives of Balakliia, Valky, Vovchansk, Chuhuiv, Kharkiv, Derhachi Police Departments of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kharkiv Region. The University’s team also took part in the competition.

The purpose of the competition was the proficiency test of law enforcement representatives in driving at a high speed and in a confined space. The Rector of the University, Police Colonel Dmytro Shvets, the Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kharkiv Region Viacheslav Krykun, the First Vice-Rector Serhii Bortnyk, the Head of the Patrol Police Department in Kharkiv Region Olena Stryzhak, and the Head of the M-Sport Driving School Mykola Chmykh congratulated the participants.

The competition program was designed for specialists. It is a part of the standard training course on improving the driving skills of police officers. The program was developed by specialists from the Department of Tactical and Special Physical Training of the University.

During the competition, the participants were performing various driving exercises.

The winners of the competition:

VI place – the combined team № 5 of Valky Police Department (result 10.10 min.);

V place – the combined team № 4 of Balakliia Police Department (result 9.58 min.);

IV place – the combined team № 7 of Chuhuiv Police Department (result 9.47 min.);

III place – the team № 2 of Derhachi Police Department (result 9.45 min.);

II place – the team № 3 of Kharkiv Police Department (result 9.17 min.);

I place – the team № 6 of Vovchansk Police Department (result 8.28 minutes.).

The team № 6 of Vovchansk Police Department was awarded the main prize – the Cup. Also, all participants were awarded diplomas, the winners also received a certificate from the M-Sport driving school for passing the master class in driving.

Moreover, the lecturers of the Department of Tactical and Special Physical Training of the University’s team – Ruslan Kushnirenko and Mykhailo Kaliuzhnyi – had the best result – 7.12 min., but as the representatives of the organizers of the competition they were hors concours.

The Rector of the University, Police Colonel Dmytro Shvets awarded and congratulated the participants.
