Nataliia Yelnikova, a Senior Lecturer of the Department of Ukrainian Studies of the Faculty No. 2 of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, successfully completed the course “Media literacy for educators”, which was conducted on the platform of massive open online courses Prometheus.

Under the conditions of rapid development in the modern world of information and communication technologies and mass media systems, society needs focused training of the person for skillful and safe use of them. The media strongly and controversially influences the education of the younger generation, often becoming a leading factor in its socialization, spontaneous social learning, becomes a tool for remote education and a source of non-formal education.

The issues of historical development, varieties of media and its impact on society were considered, the tasks of media education were elaborated, and the world and Ukrainian experience of media education were analyzed during the study. Particular attention was paid to the role of media literacy in formation of trust in education, the copyright basics and online communication.

Nataliia Yelnikova received a certificate for successful completion of this course.
