The representatives of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs participated in the work of the Round Table on Special Aspects of Juvenile Witnesses or Victims Interrogation in Kharkiv Region, which was organized by the experts of the EUAM Field Office in Kharkiv.

The purpose of the event was to raise awareness of how different participants (judges, prosecutors, police officers, child welfare services) can contribute to the protection of children's rights in criminal proceedings in Kharkiv Region.

The representatives of the EUAM in Ukraine, Kharkiv Appeal Court, Zarichnyi District Court of Sumy, Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, Headquarters of the National Police of Kharkiv Region, Offices of Children's Services of Kharkiv Regional State Administration, etc. took part in the work of the Round Table.

The event was opened by Crista Granroth, an Adviser/Trainer on Criminal Investigations of EUAM Field Office in Kharkiv. Mykola Stashchak, Professor of the Department of Investigative Activities and Crime Solution of the Faculty No. 2, Oleksandr Pabat, Associate Professor of the Department of Administrative Law and Procedure of the Faculty No. 1, Oleksii Rvachov, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Information Processing Technology and Cybersecurity of the Faculty No. 4 and Olena Ustymenko, Head of the Department of International Cooperation, represented Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs.

Tetiana Matiushkova and Tetiana Orlova, Associate Professors of the Department of Criminalistics, Forensic Science and Pre-Medical Training of the Faculty No. 1, made interesting and informative reports and presentations during the work of the Round Table.

Many issues were also discussed, in particular the rights of children, police and prosecutorial cooperation and protection of children's rights, practical aspects of interrogation of minors, introduction of the best justice practices against juvenile victims of sexual crimes in Ukraine, the most common mistakes when interviewing children, who have suffered from sexual violence, etc.

A lively discussion continued between participants and speakers during the online event.
