Kremenchuk Flight College of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs hosted a thematic event “On the Ways of Hryhorii Savych Skovoroda, the Traveler, Philosopher, Storyteller, Poet”. The work of Hryhorii Skovoroda is a precious heritage of progressive national culture. In particular, Ivan Franko wrote: “Hryhorii Skovoroda is a very noticeable phenomenon in the history of the development of the Ukrainian people, perhaps the most noticeable of all the spiritual figures of our eighteenth century.”

Oksana Savchenko, the Head of the Cycle Commission of Philological Disciplines, presented to the students an excursion into the life and creative way of Hryhorii Skovoroda. The lecturer emphasized, in particular, the literary heritage, which is quite diverse and multifaceted. These are philosophical, pedagogical treatises and dialogues, parables, fables, original and translated poetic works, a large epistolary, etc. It is noteworthy that almost every one of these works happily combines Skovoroda, as a philosopher and Skovoroda, as an artist of the word. In his work, Hryhorii Skovoroda proclaimed the ideas of democracy and humanism, opposed the prevailing tyranny, expressed freedom-loving thoughts and hopes of the common people, and affirmed his faith in the bright future of the homeland.

The recitation of poetry by students from the collections “Garden of Divine Songs” and “Fairy Tales of Kharkiv” is a vivid confirmation of Skovoroda’s word, which sounds, does not lose its vitality, its cognitive and aesthetic significance in our time. Literary-critical and artistic editions were presented at the exhibition, which the students have got acquainted with.

So let’s join the word, creative heritage, philosophy, postulates of the life of Hryhorii Savych Skovoroda, one of the most prominent figures of the national democratic culture of the past!
